Poster 340: Return to Sport and Psychological Readiness to Return to Sport in Individuals who Have Undergone Bilateral vs Unilateral ACL Surgeries

Objectives: Prior studies report lower return to preinjury level of sport in patients who undergo bilateral anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions compared unilateral reconstructions, with the most common cited reason being fear reinjury. The purpose our investigation was compare subsequent rates and psychological readiness (RTS) underwent versus ACL reconstructions. Methods: A retrospective review reconstruction at a single academic institution between 2012-2021 minimum 1-year follow-up conducted. Patients were divided into cohorts. Those matched 1:3 based on age, sex, BMI, primary sport. Primary outcomes included sport, RTS RTS, assessed by validated ACL- Return Sport after Injury (ACL-RSI) scale. Within ACL-RSI questionnaire, confidence specifically analyzed. Fear measured scale 0-100 0 equal extremely fearful 100 no all. Confidence not all fully confident. Statistical analysis performed R studio, chi-square used for categorical values two-sided t-test continuous. Results: One hundred eighty-one included, forty-three one thirty-eight unilateral. cohort 69 (50.0%) males females 22 (51.2%) 21 (48.8%) females. Mean age 26.0 (14-56) 25.2 (14-50) cohort. BMI 25 (15.3-39.2) 28 (15.1-39.7[SM1] ) cohorts (p=.08). percentage individuals returned significantly different from those (79.6% vs 76.7%, p=0.85).
